Jarvey's Rest becomes Major Colgan's
in the heart of Killarney National Park

Why the change in name?

Uniquely linked to Killarney and its wonderful tradition of jaunting car drivers, The Jarvey’s Rest was a name that served us well over the years. Now that we have decided to move towards a gastro pub experience with new décor and an exciting new menu though , a new name was in order too.

Why the name of Major Colgan?

An unsung hero in Irish history and a previous owner of The Muckross Hotel in the 20th century, we felt his was a fitting name owing to his affection for the hotel and his contribution to Killarney in particular and the country in general.

What else has changed?

Following a sizeable investment by owners iNua Hospitality, the interior of Colgan's now has a fresher, brighter look and feel. With new wooden floors, a handsome new bar counter, comfy upholstered chairs and smart stools, we also have a larger kitchen to allow for an enhanced service experience.

Our first phase of refurbishment is now complete, with more to take place later in 2018.

We are looking forward to introducing Major Colgan’s to you and hope you will enjoy the changes so far.
